3 Tips to Reduce Holiday Stress

They say that this is the season to be merry, however for many people it is a stress filled month of to do lists and anxiety. Our emotions around the holidays can be overwhelming. With so much to do and so many people to please, we may forget the real reason we even celebrate the holidays.

And we are left with a feeling of loneliness and dread for a day that is supposed to be about bringing people together. But, free not my friends. Here are just a few tips to help you reduce your stress levels this holiday season.

#1 Get Moving! Yes, its true, exercise has been proven to reduce stress and elevate your mood. Regular exercise can help you reduce overwhelming emotions such as anger, fatigue and confusion. So head to your closest gym or indoor mall and get moving.

#2 Wake Up Right! Before those lovely feet hit the floor take a few minutes of peace and serenity. Take in a few deep breaths and just imagine a beautiful place that you create within your imagination. Then reflect on two or three things you are grateful for. Starting the day out in a good mood sets the tone for your whole day.

#3 Take Breaks! Getting together with family means many personalities in one room. Do your best to not take things personally. If you feel yourself getting stressed, simply excuse yourself and take a few moments for yourself. You can go in a quite room and ground yourself. The best tip I can give you is to remember what the holidays means for you. In my family it is about celebrating the day Jesus was born as well as coming together as a family to show each other how much we love and appreciate everyone.
